A Missionary “Spring” in the Church

The history of Christianity is filled with missionaries and evangelists who have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to go out into the world and change it for the better. These changes might have involved challenging bad leaders, or bringing reform for those suffering injustice illness or poverty. There are those who have made great changes by setting a humble yet unerring example, and those who have made big and bold changes. Whatever our personality, we are all capable of making changes. We don’t have to leave change to those we consider saints or great activists. This month Pope Francis urges us to pray “…That the breath of the Holy Spirit engender a new missionary “spring” in the Church.”
